So…I found a great piece of wood with some horrible painting on it. It was a DIY welcome sign and was on sale at Goodwill for $1.oo. I only have one picture of it and in the picture you’re not able to see the monstrosity it was. Okay, that was probably too harsh…but I’m just keepin’ it real!! The colors were awful! But after some painting and some cute vinyl lettering it’s now a very chic sign for my kitchen.
1. My son is holding the monstrosity unusual sign. On top of it was a wooden sconce that I am working on at the moment…say tuned for that one!!
2. I painted the wood with white semi-gloss paint and used a sponge brush
3. I purchased my vinyl lettering on Ebay for $3.00
4. I took the backing off the lettering and centered it on the sign and firmly pressed down
5. I slowly pulled back the paper
6. And Voila!!! A more polished and chic sign for my kitchen for $4.00

I mentioned this mirror in a prior post about the great deals I found at Goodwill. I only paid $6.99 for it. I absolutely love the curves on it but wasn’t too smitten with the color. So after sanding, priming and painting…I have a mirror I absolutely LOVE!!
1. 6.99 mirror from Goodwill
2. Lightly sanded the shine off the wood
3. Used Zinnser primer and a sponge brush to apply
4. Primed and ready to paint
5. I first used Wal-Mart spray paint in black
6. I didn’t like how matte it looked so I then went to Ace Hardware and bought black spray paint in gloss
7. Much better after using the spray paint in gloss
8. I then took my sandpaper sponge and rubbed the edges to give it a distressed look
9. Bruiser seems to like it…now to find the perfect place to hang it.
