My family and I spent a few days in Cherokee, NC.
If you’ve never been then let me be your tour guide through this beautiful city.
There are plenty of photo ops with the Cherokee Indians as you walk through town.
The customary thing to do is to give them a tip to have your picture taken with them.
Although some do offer to take a picture with their Polaroid for $5.00.
This gentleman was the sweetest man and I loved that he had Crocs on instead of moccasins. Hey…it’s 2010…deal with it people!!
Doesn’t Mr. C’s little sister make a cute Indian Princess??
Tubing is one of the top things to do while in Cherokee. Especially tubing along the Oconaluftee River. It is such a beautiful place.
You can picnic, cookout, fish and play in the water at the Oconaluftee Islands Park.
Tre’ and Heather loved tubing in the river.

There are bear statues all through Cherokee. Each one unique in it’s own way.
Click HERE to see more bears.
Most people come to Cherokee to gamble. The Harrah’s Casino is very impressive.
We didn’t go there but I did manage to take a picture.
And of course, I couldn’t spend the weekend in the mountains without going to a flea market.
The one we went to was Uncle Bill’s Flea Market which is in Whittier, NC right down the road from Cherokee.
When we saw this set up I couldn’t resist having my mom pose with the “Mountain Men”.
Doesn’t my mom look great for 72???
A must see while in Cherokee is Mingo Falls. Which in Cherokee means Big Bear Falls.
This picture does not do it justice and I couldn’t get the whole waterfall in the shot.
