Mirror, Mirror On The Wall…

I love mirrors…especially mirrors that make a statement.  And this one caught my eye right away at my local Goodwill- even through all of the dirt and dust on it I could see the potential it had.  I believe it was $2.50… 1/2 off from the original price.  I love the curves and the embellishment on top.  The only problem is that it isn’t wood.  It’s faux wood, plastic to be exact.

I wanted a more vintage look to it so I primed it, painted it with some oops paint that only cost a $1.00 (Valspar Cottontail Satin) and then took some sandpaper to it to rough up the edges.

I took the back off and removed the mirror to make the painting easier.

Can I tell ya, that mirror weighed a ton!!!  This made the job easier to handle.

  • That is a fabulous mirror! I love Good Will as well for all of their potential finds! I am a little scared of faux wood things but this has made me more confident!

  • The frame looks like wood now that you have painted it. Great job making it look old. I am starting to love shopping at Goodwill stores, such fun to find great deals like you found.

  • Love the way it turned out – totally jealous of that deal you got on it, makes me convinced that the goodwill I go to is way over priced.

I sometimes think the one I go to is also overpriced on certain items. I mean come on…it’s Goodwill. The people shopping there are looking for a bargain!!
Thanks for the comment…I appreciate it!

As soon as I saw the price I had my son take it to the cashier to see if she would let me “hide” it behind her. I couldn’t let that one get away!!!

I hate “faux wood” too so for 2.50 I knew if I messed it up too bad I didn’t have much to lose.
