Creating an attractive backdrop is sometimes key to selling online.
Now, I don’t mean smoke and mirrors to deceive anyone but to set up an image in a buyers mind of how that item will look in their house or if it’s clothing, how it will look on them.
I moved my “Etsy/Ebay” room from downstairs in my basement to my middle son’s bedroom who recently moved out on his own. With cooler weather approaching I knew I would never make it in my unfinished basement. I still use my basement to paint, sand, etc. but needed a better location for my blogging and online selling.
I had a very cute backdrop set up downstairs so I knew I had to create one in my new set up.
I used what I had on hand and thankfully my son left his stereo and speakers so I knew the speakers would be tall enough to make a great base for my backdrop.
I knew I had something downstairs that could be used as the top and sure enough in my wood pile I had the perfect piece.
Then back downstairs to grab an old painters cloth. Those things are the most versatile pieces of fabric you will ever use. I have made curtains, tablecloths and pinecone swags with them.
They’re cheap and come in handy when you need some neutral fabric.
It still didn’t look quite right though. The walls are a smoky blue and not quite the color I was looking for.
So back downstairs once again for another drop cloth. I used hooks and nails to clip it on the wall.
See the before and after….so much better!!!
This makes for better pictures and come on, it’s just so darn cute!
My most favorite way to take pictures of the items I am selling is to take them outdoors- this makes a huge difference also.
