I love cooking with cast iron. It is by far my favorite way to cook and bake. It holds heat extremely well and it’s just oh so Southern! Cast iron can intimidate people, they’re not sure how to use it or clean it. But trust me both are very easy. According to the Lodge website cast iron rarely needs to go above a medium heat setting when properly pre-heated. I have had my set of Lodge for 10 years now and have never had a problem with burnt food or uneven cooking and have never had to use high heat while cooking on the stove.
And worried about how to clean cast iron…well, that’s easy too. Just watch.
This is the Lodge brush I use to clean my cast iron with and it’s awesome.
The bristles stay stiff and the handle allows for a good grip.
Along with the brush these scrappers do an awesome job cleaning too.
You can scrap out any junk before using the brush.
And I wish I would have known about these Lodge pot holders years ago. I found them a year ago at the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis, NC and they have saved me many a burnt finger.
Lodge has not compensated me in anyway to write this post. This is just one chick’s unpaid opinion and her love for Lodge Cast Iron…
