Hello, my name is Sherri and I have a slight obsession with mirrors… I LOVE mirrors! I don’t necessarily like seeing my image in them but I do like to hang them all around my house. I didn’t realize my obsession until a conversation with a co-worker that shares the same affliction. She too cannot pass by a mirror for sale in a thrift store without buying it. I love to paint them, stain them, sand them and hang them. They add character to a dull room and when the light hits them…ohhh, the beauty!
This first one is in my dining room. It started off as a faux wood mirror that I painted and distressed to a beautiful finish.
My next favorite mirror in my house is this one. It is a solid wooden mirror and is VERY heavy. I primed, painted and sanded the edges to give it more detail. At the moment it’s sitting on the floor in my craft room instead of hanging on a wall only because I have the tendency to change my mind on where I want to hang my mirrors. I love the finials on it and the 3 dimensional details. So perfect!
The next two mirrors I rescued from getting thrown in the trash. They were coming out of an old office building and when I saw them sitting by the door awaiting their fate…I knew I had to step in and save them. Please, please don’t call me a hero. I’m just doing my junkin’ duty!
And last but not least, even if the mirror is broken I’ll rescue the frame and paint it. The following are hanging in my craft room and I love the unexpected pops of color. I chose two bright colors to liven up the room.
So do you have an obsession with mirrors too? If so, let me know and we can start a support group! I’m here to help…. 🙂
