Stripping paint off furniture doesn’t have to be hard or smelly. Especially when you use Citristrip Stripping Gel. You may even learn to love removing old paint when you use it. The smell is quite heavenly. It has a wonderful aroma of fresh oranges and the scent may deceive you into thinking it can’t be strong enough to work. But trust me, it is! You only need a few items to successfully strip paint. So lets get started…
I used the following items to strip my painted dining table.
- Citristrip Stripping Gel
- Mineral Spirits
- Plastic Paint Scrapper
I put on my “stripper” outfit along with my fancy green gloves and got started. I spread the stripping gel on the table top and let it sit for 45 mins. After the 45 mins, I took my paint scraper and started removing the paint. Since there was primer under the paint I focused on removing layers with the stripping gel. It took a few hours to get everything removed and any excess paint or gel left behind was removed with the mineral spirits.
I love using Citristrip and it’s always my first choice when it comes to removing paint. And with the smell of oranges you may just think you’re on a tropical island….just you, your Mai Tai, umbrella and dining table that needs a little TLC.
