It’s amazing what a little paint and elbow grease can do to revamp a piece. And these lamps are no exception. I don’t have a good before picture but just imagine an old discolored harp, wood body and brass base. Good bones mind you but a little out dated for my taste. So after primer, paint, a little distressing and rewiring I have 2 beautiful lamps to put in my online store at Storenvy.
I used my favorite Old Fashioned Milk Paint in Oyster for the small lamp. It went on perfectly!
I then did a little distressing to let the wood and brass show through. Once that was done I sealed it with Valspar clear sealer in satin.
Next, to re-wire it and add new hardware. Depending on the age of the lamp I like to re-wire them to ensure proper working order.
The underwriter’s knot is used as strain relief to prevent a cable from being pulled from electrical terminals when the cable is yanked.
Ah yes, perfection. I love the color of the larger one. It’s Valspar Exotic Sea and the color is so amazing. I also sealed it with Valspar clear sealer in satin.
Now to find more ugly lamps to rescue and revamp!!!
