During my visit to The Depot at Gibson Mill in Concord, NC I came across the cutest wood table with beautiful legs and detailed grain top. So I rushed over to grab it before anyone else could. I knew it wouldn’t weigh a ton but once I picked it up I could tell this wasn’t wood at all but plastic, fantastic plastic! I don’t usually go for faux wood but this was just too darn cute to pass up. And painting plastic furniture is super easy!
I started off by priming it so I could be sure the paint would stick.
Next came a good spray of some Dusty Blue Ooops paint I found at Lowes for $1.00! Small container but big enough to transform this beauty.
After the paint was dry the table looked a little bland so I thought maybe painting the top would give the table some depth and character. I sprayed a few coats of Vaspar paint in Royal Garnet.
Once everything was dry I used some fine sandpaper to rough up the edges to add just a bit more uniqueness to the piece then I used Minwax to seal it.
I love the way this turned out. You would never know this was plastic…unless of course you picked it up!
Ahhh, the power of paint.
