I love incorporating coffee bean sacks into my home decor especially using them as art. After debating on how to display some coffee bean sacks I bought I came up with the following idea. I took apart an old pallet, sanded and stained each piece and used them as the frames around the sacks. I hung one of the finished pieces in my kitchen and I have the rest of the framed art for sale at Charmed in Germanton, NC.
My assistant, Bruiser, approved of the the coffee beans sacks…or maybe he just thought they made a good place to take a nap?
I used Mod Podge to seal the cut edges so they wouldn’t unravel. This stuff is awesome!
I sanded the pallet pieces to a soft finish then stained them with Minwax. The colors of stain I chose to use ranged from oak to a dark walnut. Minwax is such a great stain and it’s the only brand I trust to give me a beautiful finish. I used disposable sponge brushes to stain the wood so I could toss them once I was through.
I love the finished look. It’s a very unique piece that I could not buy in a department store…better yet I KNOW it’s made in the USA and not China.
