I’m not usually one that likes the color gold in my decor but as I was creating this piece I knew the metallic gold against the natural wood and stain would make for a great contrast in this shim art design.
To create the arrow I used pieces from a chair back and shims and painted everything metallic gold. Shims are very inexpensive and allow you to create beautiful herringbone designs. I found the shims at Lowes Home Improvement for less than $2.00 a bundle.
I used a disposable sponge brush to paint the arrow. Sponge brushes are cheap and can either be washed and reused or thrown away depending on the type of paint or stain you’re using.
The colors mesh so well together and I was so excited with the final design. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with this sign but I think it was time well spent trying to nail down the perfect design.
This would look so great in a hallway, den or child’s room.
