I love paint; it’s like makeup for ugly furniture! You can transform any piece of furniture from boring to awesome in a matter of minutes. All you need is a little imagination and some paint.
While shopping a local flea market, I stumbled upon a cute table for my foyer. The only problem with it was that it was ugly and boring. The base is plastic and the top is made from MDF with a veneer top in an almost pinkish cream color. I just knew I had to transform it…Enter Benjamin Moore paint in “Hale Navy”. It’s a deep, rich blue that’s oh so classy and works well with warm and cool tones in any décor.
Before painting the table, I gave it a couple coats of Bulls Eye 1-2-3 primer to be sure the paint would stick.
I had 2 paint colors to choose from that I had lying around the house.
One was a dark almost blackish-gray and the other was Benjamin Moore ‘Hale Navy”. The Hale Navy won!
I brushed the first coat of paint on but once it dried I didn’t care for all of the brush marks.
A little Floetrol would have remedied that issue but I forgot to add any before I started painting. I then rolled on a second coat and that did the trick.
After it dried, I wasn’t too excited about how “BLUE” it was. Yea, yea I know I painted it blue but it was too monotone for me and it lacked character! So to cover up my disappointment, I found an old drop cloth and proceeded to hide my failure.
After looking at it for a few weeks, I just knew I had to rectify my lackluster DIY job so I took a poster and some Mod Podge and went to work!
And to share my ridiculous thoughts of the table being “too blue,” I made a short video…Enjoy
My husband loves his new table but that leaves me looking for a new table to put in the foyer. Don’t feel too bad for me…I live for a good junkin’ trip and I’m sure I’ll come up with something great to replace the “Blue Nightmare” that once occupied the space.
