As I was creating my Coffee Bar, one thing I knew I had to change was the stone back splash, but how do you do that without spending a fortune? Well, if you’re like me you look for the most inexpensive but creative way to go about it so I drew some inspiration from Starbucks and decided to go with a chalkboard back splash.
The back splash had no character or style for what I envisioned for my coffee bar.
I found chalkboard laminate vinyl online at Walmart.com for $4.97.
The shape of the stone shown through the vinyl but that really didn’t bother me. I was just happy to find an inexpensive way to cover the stone without having to remove it.
I rubbed chalk over the vinyl then wiped it with an eraser to make the back splash look more uniform and to give it a more distressed look.
My chalkboard lettering isn’t up to par with the “Chalkboard Artists” at Starbucks but I do love the way it looks.
I used regular chalk and chalk pens for a more colorful look.
The chalkboard back splash helps to complete the look I was going for with my Coffee Bar. Have you ever used chalkboard vinyl or another inexpensive way to hide your ugly back splash? Let me know in the comments below.
