First, I washed down the chairs to remove any dust or dirt.

I then used BIN shellac primer.  It dries quickly so you have to work fast.  Since I hate washing out brushes, especially after using primer, I bought some cheap brushes from Wal-Mart that I could toss afterward.  They were only .50 a piece.

It only took 3 1/2 cans to finish the job.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on fabric to recover the chairs so I looked through my stash and found a great cloth shower curtain that worked great.  I know that sounds odd to use a shower curtain but it is a durable fabric and it saved me from having to spend more money on this project.

I distressed the edges a bit, sprayed on some Valspar Sealer in satin, put the seat back on and Voila!!  Some great custom chairs and my final cost was only $19.00.  The primer was left over from a different project and the shower curtain was in my stash of goodies…  So, $19.00 is pretty good for 2 great looking chairs.

I bought the frames off Ebay years ago and never used them.  The color and prints didn’t go with anything in my house.  So, what’s a Junkin’ Chick to do but paint them and remove the prints.  I replaced the prints with family photos.  They are now hanging in my bedroom and I absolutely love the end result!

I started by taking a walk outside and picking twigs of all sizes.

I then grabbed some scrap fabric, cardboard and my glue gun.

I used a salad plate as my template for my circle and then used a coffee cup as my template for the hole in the middle.

I cut my fabric into strips and wrapped it around my circle and secured it with hot glue.

I then started arranging my twigs… no real rhyme or reason for how I arranged them.  Just arrange them however you think they will look visually pleasing.

No right or wrong way to do this.

Once that was done I took the wreath outside and sprayed it lightly with off-white spray paint.

I just wanted the twigs a little lighter in color.

Once dried I took it back inside and made a hanger with the same fabric and hot glued it onto the back of the wreath.

And tah-dah!!!  The finished wreath.  I love the rustic look of it.

This closer shot shows you the painted twigs.  The colors blend so well together and I love it!!!

I used a Sharpie and drew out everything on the back of the glass.  This way I could use a dry erase marker on the front and wipe clean without messing up the outline.

After doing this I came to realize using stickers on the back side of the glass would have been easier.

It looked OK but I didn’t care for the brassy look of the frame.

I mixed some oops paint (cottontail from Valspar) with some metallic sequin black paint to make a soft grey color.

I used an old tablecloth as my fabric choice.  I love the color against the grey frame.

I wrote in the dates with my dry erase marker.

As you can see…it’s not perfect but it’s really cute!!!

It all started with this mirror.  I put it at an angle and to make sure it wasn’t going anywhere I secured it with two nails that I nailed into the mantel- one on each end of the mirror.

I then added in some white vases, frames and a cute plate hanging over the mirror.

See the little birdy?- he’s the bird on my header and blog button- checking out my handiwork.

My youngest son made that bird for me 4 years ago and I fell in love with it.  When I thought about  starting  a blog I knew I wanted to use that bird as my logo…

The young man in the photo below is of my father when he was in WWII.  He was a teenager at the time…

I just love that picture of him.

There’s that bird again….

I love mirrors…especially mirrors that make a statement.  And this one caught my eye right away at my local Goodwill- even through all of the dirt and dust on it I could see the potential it had.  I believe it was $2.50… 1/2 off from the original price.  I love the curves and the embellishment on top.  The only problem is that it isn’t wood.  It’s faux wood, plastic to be exact.

I wanted a more vintage look to it so I primed it, painted it with some oops paint that only cost a $1.00 (Valspar Cottontail Satin) and then took some sandpaper to it to rough up the edges.

I took the back off and removed the mirror to make the painting easier.

Can I tell ya, that mirror weighed a ton!!!  This made the job easier to handle.

I took off the veneer on top since it was chipping anyway.

I disassembled the table to make the rest of the job easier.

I love using Zinsser spray primer.

My $4.00 Ooops paint from Lowe’s .  Lyndhurst Duchess Blue Interior Semi-Gloss.  I would describe this as a “Robin’s Egg Blue”.

I used Pewter Grey acrylic paint to tone down the blue.

I used a sponge brush to apply it and wiped it off with a damp rag.

I love the end result.  I distressed it to make the primer and wood show through.

LOVE it!!

I chose the perfect spot…

Much better now.  I love the finished look. Very vintage and colorful!!

I love the crackle on the base but the shade left something to be desired.

I used my FAVORITE primer.

And after a couple of coats of primer and white spray paint…the base rocks!!  You can still see the crackle which I love.

I paired it with a lamp shade I already had and I love the end result!!
