The Power of Paint…

frame-header

I love taking items that are ok…and turning them into unique one-of-a-kind pieces with paint.  And my favorite paint color to use is “Ooops”.  Never heard of that color?  Well, that’s because it’s not a color.  It’s paint a customer has requested to be mixed but once the lid is taken off…”Ooops, I didn’t want THAT color”.  So, the store reduces the price to get it sold.  And this project was done with “Ooops paint”.  The color is “Shiloh Blue”, a kind of bluish-gray color.

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall…

I love mirrors…especially mirrors that make a statement.  And this one caught my eye right away at my local Goodwill- even through all of the dirt and dust on it I could see the potential it had.  I believe it was $2.50… 1/2 off from the original price.  I love the curves and the embellishment on top.  The only problem is that it isn’t wood.  It’s faux wood, plastic to be exact.

A New Old Table…

I found this really cute table at Goodwill a month or so ago.  I love the legs on it and when I saw that the price was $ 2.49, I grabbed it!!!  The top had veneer chipping off and there were water marks on it.  But I knew that with a little primer, paint and sandpaper I could turn this dud into a stud!!

I took off the veneer on top since it was chipping anyway.

I disassembled the table to make the rest of the job easier.

I love using Zinsser spray primer.

My $4.00 Ooops paint from Lowe’s .  Lyndhurst Duchess Blue Interior Semi-Gloss.  I would describe this as a “Robin’s Egg Blue”.

I used Pewter Grey acrylic paint to tone down the blue.

I used a sponge brush to apply it and wiped it off with a damp rag.

I love the end result.  I distressed it to make the primer and wood show through.

LOVE it!!

I chose the perfect spot…

Much better now.  I love the finished look. Very vintage and colorful!!

Thrift Store Plate Display…

I love old plates and they offer a great way to decorate a wall.  I chose some random plates I had stored away and bought some plate hangers off Ebay.  I didn’t go by a pattern, I didn’t measure I just hung them in a way that I thought looked pleasing to the eye…my eye!!  So lets get started…

I bought 10 plate hangers in various sizes.

Afternoon Delight…

That got your attention, didn’t it?  The kind I’m talking about is…Junkin’ at Goodwill!  What’s better than leaving work and then heading to Goodwill?  NOTHING!!!  And that’s what I did yesterday.  The one located where I live has a coffee bar called “Edgar’s Coffee“.  Named after the founder of Goodwill, Edgar Helms.   Yes, you heard right.  They sell coffee and smoothies.  No, I didn’t get one…but the temptation was there.  I love going to Goodwill during the week.  You avoid the crowds and to me it seems as if the shelves are better stocked.  Take a look at my “Goodwill Haul”.

More plates for my dining room wall…just need the plate hangers now.

A nice, new white frame…that may or may not stay white.  Can you say spray paint??

These are so cute.  When you open the clasp on them they play music.  I have a niece getting married in June and the “wedding” bags are for her presents.
